Global investment drive includes East of England projects

Two major development projects in Cambs and one in Norfolk feature in a new drive being launched by international trade secretary Liam Fox to attract more than £30 billion foreign investment to the UK.

The three projects in the East of England - Wisbech Garden Town, Cambridgeshire, £2.5 billion; Camro data campus in Ely, £800m and Nelson Quay, regeneration project in King's Lynn, £120m- are among 68 projects across the UK which are being promoted. The initiative is part of the government’s industrial strategy and also involves an online ‘one stop shop’ at launched to help global investors find UK projects.

Dr Fox said: “This is a bold and ambitious programme, building on the UK's position as the leading destination for foreign investment in Europe through the government's industrial strategy, helping to build a Britain fit for the future.” The government’s ‘high potential opportunities’ scheme is also being extended.
