Ipswich solicitors practice Jackaman Smith & Mulley is merging with Nigel Steed & Co. The two partners of Nigel Steed & Co (formerly known as Greene Morgan & Greene) – Ruth Jenkins and Nigel Steed - will join the JSM Ipswich office where they will continue to service theirexisting clients.  Jackaman Smith & Mulley expanded into South Norfolk about 10 years ago and has offices in Felixstowe, Diss and Harleston. Jackaman Smith & Mulley’s managing partner Paul McGrath said: “Our two firms are an excellent match, being highly successful and established with a similar client base.  We are confident that this will bring benefits to future and existing clients.”

The merger reinforces an existing link between the two firms – JSM’s former Senior Partner, Walter Mulley (previous mayor of Ipswich who died recently at the age of 99) was a close colleague of the late Cyril Steed and they both served together for many years on the local Legal Aid panel.

Each firm aims to deliver practical advice that matches clients’ needs, whether they be private individuals or businesses.  With increasingly complex legislation affecting all clients, Nigel Steed & Co sought a business partner with similar aims and who would offer an extended range of commercial services to clients.  Together, the merged firm will be able to offer a wider range of legal services – in greater depth – to the local community.

Jackaman Smith & Mulley’s Managing Partner Paul McGrath said:“We are delighted to welcome Nigel and Ruth to Jackaman Smith & Mulley.  Nigel’s wealth of knowledge, expertise and energy is highly valued by clients and colleagues alike, whilst Ruth is a well-known and respected matrimonial lawyer.  They will strengthen the services we can offer our existing clients and we can add to the services currently available to their client base.

“Fortunately, despite the general economic conditions, we have a strong foundation.  This consolidation will ensure we are now well placed to build upon this as the economy improves”.
