A new Suffolk International Trade Group has been launched by Suffolk Chamber of Commerce, reflecting the significance of shipping and logistics to the county’s economy.
“The Suffolk International Trade Group is an important new initiative that offers practical support to local exporters through the collaboration between Suffolk Chamber of Commerce and UKTIEast,” said Stuart Gregory from Wallis Shipping.
Suffolk Chamber of Commerce is one of the major issuers of export documentation in the UK. The export team at Felaw Maltings in Ipswich also issues Arab British Certificates of Origin and international trade and movement certificates.
“As part of the new International Trade Group, the chamber team has many years export knowledge under their belts,” said chamber CEO John Dugmore. “We are proud that we can answer most worldwide documentation queries which provides an invaluable resource to our members.”
Wallis Shipping Services, who sponsored a launch event with Birketts, outlined the logistical aspects of international trade to delegates and shared their experience as one of the first companies to provide an effective link between international buyers and sellers.
Alex Davey from Birketts LLP, highlighted the importance of mapping a pathway through the legal minefield of overseas trade. “Because of the importance of international trade, as a company we have a specialist shipping and transport team advising on all aspects of the international sale and carriage of goods,” he said.
