Hotels and pubs chain in administration

A chain of mid-range hotels and pubs operating across East Anglia and Essex and employing 462 staff is up for sale after the three companies behind them - Elizabeth Hotels Limited, Cavendish Hotels Limited and Elizabeth Estates (BS) Limited - went into administration last week. The business includes 14 hotels and 13 pubs.

Joint administrator Allan Graham of KPMG said: “The company’s financial liabilities made it impossible to continue running the businesses as they stood. We will continue to trade the business in the short term whilst a buyer is sought for the hotels and pubs, individually or as a group." Four hotels operated by the companies will continue to trade in other group companies outside of the administration.
